Ceramic landscapes
Exploring the passage of time through matter.
Stratigraphies is a series of ceramic sculptures inspired
by geological processes and the visible traces of time.
Each work is built through the manual layering of different
clays and slips, creating stratified structures that are later
cut, excavated, fragmented or partially revealed.
Fissures, displacements and irregularities are intentionally
left visible, becoming both the language of the work
and the record of its making.
ABOUT
Rita Centeio is a Portuguese artist working with clay
as a medium for investigation and expression.
Her practice explores the relationship between matter,
time and landscape, transforming natural processes
into ceramic sculptures.
